50 Year Trail to Sutherland Trail

We mixed a bit of the old with a bit of the new and came up with a very enjoyable hike in the Catalinas. The 50 Year trail we had done previously but the return trail that linked to the Sutherland trail was new and  a real improvemnet in avoiding the rocky road on the Link Trail that we had previously taken. The short hike was a completely new trail that we had scouted just the day before. It was a very enjoyable hike and we got everyone back early for the events in the park that night.

Picketpost South Hike, January 25, 2013

We were expecting that it might rain on us on this hike as we gathered in the parking lot but it turned out to be a mix of sun and cloud and got quite warm by the time we finished up. It was great weather for a hike. This is an enjoyable hike at the base of Picketpoist Mountain and up into a valley to the south. We met three adventursome young women who were hiking the Arizona Trail for long distances. Oh to be young again!
